CGAD, OPRI empower IP students through outreach, gender awareness

In celebration of the National Women’s Month, Central Mindanao University’s Center for Gender and Development (CGAD) and Office of Public Relations and Information (OPRI) held an outreach activity at the Mindanao Tribal School, Inc (MTSI) in Panadtalan, Maramag on March 28, 2025.

CGAD Director Dr. Hazel Marie R. Boloron, along with select GAD focal persons, facilitated a gender sensitivity orientation to raise awareness about gender-related issues and promote equality and inclusivity among students. The session encouraged meaningful discussions on gender responsiveness in education and daily life.

Apart from the orientation, the initiative also included a distribution of hygiene kits for the students. Additionally, OPRI turned over donated goods to the school as part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement.

MTSI Principal Myra P. Cahansa expressed her gratitude for the visit, emphasizing that the support provided would greatly benefit the students.

Dr. Boloron on the other hand thanked the school for welcoming the group despite their academic commitments. OPRI Director Prof. Mayflor D. Prantilla-Arambala echoed her sentiments, sharing that it is both an honor and a joy to be part of the said activity. She also hoped that the students would apply the lessons learned in their daily lives.This activity is part of CGAD’s gender mainstreaming efforts and extension program and the fifth year of OPRI Give Love project.
