CMU receives prestigious recognition at the EQUATE Awards

Central Mindanao University (CMU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in education by earning prestigious recognition at the Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Awards held on April 2, 2025, at Manila Hotel, Manila.

Led by University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, Dean of the College of Education Dr. Denis A. Tan, and Student Teaching Supervisor Dr. Aprell L. Abellana, CMU stood out among 1,553 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) nationwide, securing its place as one of the 120 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) honored by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

In Region 10, CMU was recognized as one of the six exemplary institutions, standing alongside Xavier University (XU), Bukidnon State University (BukSU), Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), COC-Phinma, and La Salle University Ozamiz.

This significant achievement underscores CMU’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education and its continuous pursuit of excellence in teacher education.

In an interview, Dr. Denis A. Tan, Dean of the College of Education, expressed her gratitude and pride in receiving the award: “We are deeply honored to receive this prestigious award on behalf of Central Mindanao University. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and past and present administrators.”

She further emphasized CMU’s dedication to further improving teacher education: This award is not just a recognition of our past achievements but also a challenge to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence in education. We accept this challenge and pledge to continue empowering our students to become leaders and change-makers.”

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe also extended his heartfelt congratulations: “Congratulations to the CMU College of Education’s administrators (past and present), faculty, staff, students, alumni, CMU Academic Council (ADCO)—particularly our Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance team—and other stakeholders. This is a WIN for the entire Central Mindanao University.”
