The CMU Administrative Services Office (ASO), under the Vice President for Administration (VPA) held the First Suppliers’ Forum via face-to-face and online facilitation on April 8, 2022 at the CMU Farmers Training Center.
“The main goal of this event is to build a stronger relationship between suppliers and CMU,” Dr. Jesus Antonio G. Derije, University President, said in his opening remarks. He added that this event encourages open communication to reduce unavailability problems, delays, and quality issues in acquiring university supplies.
Dr. Derije further explained that the suppliers are the University’s development collaborators. “We cannot be a university with a lot of accomplishments without your support,” he said to the suppliers who attended the event.
Also, the Vice Chairman for Goods and Services and Budget Officer, Mr. Charlie Mundal, oriented the participants about the RA 9184, also known as the Government Procurement Reform Act. He asserted that both the CMU and the suppliers should abide by the procurement process. “If we fail to do it, we are bound or legally answerable or accountable to RA 9184.”
Transaction’s process flow or procedure, procurement standards, guidelines for the delivery and acceptance of items and equipment, protocols for conducting procurement inspection and quality assessments, and supplier’s performance evaluation were also highlighted in the forum.
