The act of offering livestock such as sheep, goats, and cows as a sacrifice during Eid al-Adha is a symbolic representation of a narrative described in the Quran. It recounts the story of Prophet Ibrahim (known as Abraham in the biblical context), who received a divine command from God to sacrifice his son Ismail. This commandment served as a supreme trial of faith and submission to God for Muslims. However, just as Ibrahim was about to carry out the sacrifice, the angel Gabriel intervened and substituted Ismail with a ram.
