CMU inks partnership with Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand

The Academic Paradise of the South, Central Mindanao University (CMU), strengthened its international academic ties through a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to enhance academic collaboration among other development initiatives on March 3, 2025, in Thailand.

CMU President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe and AIT President Professor Pai-Chi Li formally signed the agreement, with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis serving as a witness.

The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation between the two esteemed institutions, focusing on joint academic and research endeavors that align with their shared mission of fostering innovation and capacity building. Among the key areas of collaboration outlined in the agreement are faculty and staff exchanges, training programs, curriculum development, and consultancy services. This partnership is expected to elevate both institutions’ roles in regional economic growth and sustainable development.

AIT is a premier institution in Thailand and has been at the forefront of providing advanced education in engineering, technology, and management since 1959. Its commitment to producing high-quality professionals aligns with CMU’s goal of integrating its top-performing programs into the global academic and research community.

“This partnership aligns with CMU’s mission to provide globally competitive education, enrich faculty expertise, and expand international learning opportunities for students,” Dr. Eballe said.

CMU’s visit to Thailand also included participation in the workshop “Mapping the Science, Research, and Innovation Landscape in Southeast Asia,” attended alongside Commissioner Agrupis. Following this, Dr. Eballe is set to attend the AACCUP National Conference Awarding Ceremony on March 7. [Iyren D. Neri]
