CMU hosts AIMS National Annual Review

Central Mindanao University (CMU) was chosen to host the 2024 Asian International Mobility of Students (AIMS) National Review Meeting for International Relations Officers (IROs) at the UNO Business Hotel and Café, Valencia City on June 26-27, 2024.

During the meeting, officials from the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) International Affairs Service, Office of Student Development Service, and Regional Office 10 were present. Also, in attendance were the representatives from the 11 member universities. These were Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), Batangas State University (BatSU), Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Mapua University, St. Louis University (SLU), University of Mindanao (UM), University of St. La Salle Bacolod (USLSB), University of Santo Tomas (UST), and CMU.

Also, IROs from seven universities within Region 10 were invited as observers. These universities were Bukidnon State University (BukSU), Capitol University (CU), Liceo de Cagayan University (LDCU), Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Misamis University (MU), and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (XU).

CMU President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe said in his words of welcome during the opening program that the meeting was an opportunity to explore areas for improvement and innovation.

“By sharing our insights and experiences, we can strengthen the program, ensuring it remains responsive to the evolving needs of our students and the dynamic landscape of higher education,” Dr. Eballe said.

Highlights of the meeting were the presentation of updates on the implementation of the program and its revised guidelines. The participants also discussed different best practices of the universities and future areas of collaboration and expansion of the program. They also shared initiatives for their vision roadmap for the year 2030.

Meanwhile, select CMU College of Business and Management students received their prize after winning the video teaser competition for CHED’s 30th anniversary.

The delegation had a courtesy visit at the CMU Office of the President Conference Room prior to the event. They also visited the Bukidnon Studies Center at BukSU in Malaybalay City and Lake Apo in Valencia City.

AIMS is a regional initiative of the Southeast Asian Minister of Education Organization Regional Institute for Higher Education Development (SEAMO RIHED) to support the mobility of students and enhance cooperation in higher education among countries in Asia. It is one of the major avenues for the university’s internationalization efforts, enabling the institution to send scholars abroad and fostering further international linkages. [Johnica Chantal G.
