CMU Holds 7th RDE Congress and 34th IHRE

Central Mindanao University held its Seventh Research Development and Extension (RDE) Congress and Thirty-Fourth In-House Review and Evaluation (IHRE) with the theme “Conquering Challenges, Championing Excellence, Reaping Laurels” via Zoom.

A total of 122 research projects, both ongoing and completed institutionally funded and externally funded, were presented.

Dr. Annabelle P. Villalobos, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik Scientist, emphasized in her message that Dr. Jose Rizal, Clara Y. Lim-Sylianco, Antoine Lavoisier, and many others served as her research role models and helped her become more successful in her work as a scientist.

According to Dr. Teddy E. Colipano, the College of Agriculture’s Research Coordinator, everyone had the chance to contribute their RDE experiences and ideas at the gathering of researchers, extensionists, scientists, and students. He asserted that this activity led to better techniques, better analysis and interpretation, and meaningful input and utilization to accomplish CMU’s vision.

Four stations for the simultaneous zoom plenary sessions were utilized for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR), and NON-AANR research participants.

University President Dr. Jesus Antonio G. Derije pointed out in his message during the closing program that research plays a significant role in society by generating new information that will lead to discoveries.

Dr. Alan P. Dargantes, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, emphasized in his closing remarks that despite the many roles that researchers play at the university, CMU is improving in terms of RDE culture and engagement as reflected in the research presented on this year’s RDE and IHRE.

Overall, the event was a success and was made possible because of strong support from the CMU administrators, evaluators, respective institutions, presenters, and research and extension assistants. The 7th RDE Congress and 34th IHRE was held at Farmers Training Center (FTC), last October 26 to 28, 2022. [Julie Anne P. Bago]
