CMU commends top research, extension projects

Central Mindanao University Research and Extension Offices commended exemplary research and extension projects and activities during the 8th Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Congress and 35th Annual In-House Review and Evaluation, November 7-10, 2023 via virtual conferencing with the theme “Beyond National Border: Educating for Global Competence.”

Four plenary sessions were conducted simultaneously for the research and development project presentations in Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) and non-AANR categories. Among these presentations, 24 were recognized during the event’s closing ceremony.

During an interview, Dr. Mark Lloyd Dapar of the Institute of Biological Sciences expressed pride and delight as a project leader and collaborator of some of the winning projects. He added that the event was a good learning experience for him.

“It was really enjoyable and a good learning experience as we exchanged ideas in the question-and-answer portion,” he added.

Meanwhile, in his keynote message, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 10 Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Mr. Virgilio M. Fuertes extended the agency’s gratitude for the university’s continuous contributions to advancing research, development, and innovation in the region, especially in the agriculture sector.

“You are one of our prized [science, technology, and innovation] champions,” Mr. Fuertes said of CMU.

Furthermore, he encouraged the university to share its best practices with other institutions, especially within Bukidnon. He also relayed the full support of DOST for the university’s future RDE endeavors.

In his message, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Alan P. Dargantes described the papers presented as a compelling testament to the enduring excellence of the University in RDE culture and engagements. He also hoped that the event served as a source of inspiration for faculty researchers, encouraging them to persist in their pursuit of impactful research and extension activities.
