142 research and extension papers up for evaluation at CMU’s 11th RDE Congress
Central Mindanao University (CMU), through the Office of Research and Extension, officially opened its 11th Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Congress and 38th Annual In-House Review and Evaluation on October 26, 2026. Running until October 28 via Zoom, the three-day event features 142 research and extension papers for evaluation.

Carrying the theme, “Shaping Global Leaders through Excellence, Integrity, and Service,” the annual event serves as a platform to present and assess the University’s research and extension accomplishments, ongoing initiatives, and completed projects. It also facilitates the sharing of significant findings and helps identify areas for further improvement.

In his welcome remarks, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe emphasized that the congress and evaluation ensure CMU’s research translates into practical solutions and meaningful contributions to sustainable development.
“Through this Congress, we recognize outstanding work, encourage collaboration, and strengthen our research capabilities to address the needs of our communities, the nation, and the global society,” Dr. Eballe stated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Allan T. Dargantes, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension (RDE), outlined the rationale of the event. He highlighted that the congress reaffirms the University’s commitment to generating knowledge, fostering innovation, and developing solutions that respond directly to the needs of communities, industries, and society at large.

Adding a broader perspective to the opening ceremony, Dr. Mylene M. Uy of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) delivered an inspiring keynote address. Speaking on the theme “Shaping Global Leaders: The Transformative Power of Research, Development, and Extension,” Dr. Uy underscored how institutional excellence, integrity, and service drive meaningful change and community development.
To ensure a rigorous and objective review, panels of evaluators from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and external agencies were invited to assess the papers and provide constructive feedback, further strengthening CMU’s research and extension initiatives.
The three-day congress is expected to culminate in the recognition of top-performing research and extension papers during the closing ceremony. Through this annual tradition, Central Mindanao University continues to foster a vibrant culture of inquiry and innovation, ensuring that academic outputs actively translate into real-world impact.
The congress and evaluation contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
