In celebration of the 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, Central Mindanao University honored public servants as modern-day champions of nation-building during the monthly convocation on June 9, 2025, at the University Convention Center with the theme “Modern-day Hero in Public Service.”

Congresswoman-elect Inday Audrey Tan-Zubiri of the Third District of Bukidnon graced the event as the guest speaker. In her address, Cong. Zubiri underscored the influence of the education sector on nation-building.
“You are public servants in the education sector – a crucial, if not the most crucial part of our nation-building,” she said.
She also added that through education, the youth also gain a sense of socio-civic responsibility.
“It is in the education sector where we raise our youth to have a sense of socio-civic responsibility, so they can continue to protect the hard-won freedoms of our country and our people,” Cong. Zubiri said.
Cong. Zubiri also added that heroism does not have to be grand and can exist in the smallest acts of goodness. This includes guiding students and helping them shine even brighter.
“If you have changed even one student’s life for the better, and set them on the path to success, then you are nothing short of a hero, and today, we celebrate you,” Cong. Zubiri added.
Zubiri commended CMU’s faculty and staff for guiding students in becoming full-blooded patriots who will be the foundation of the future.
Concluding her message, Cong. Zubiri reminded all public servants of their collective responsibility to protect the nation’s independence.
Alongside Cong. Zubiri’s message, faculty researchers who published research outputs were also recognized during the program.
