CMU strengthens academic program with Indonesian Visiting Professor

The University continues to advance its commitment to academic excellence and global perspectives by hosting Dr. Dra. Ni Wayan Kasni, M.HUM., from Universitas Warmadewa, Indonesia, as a visiting professor from August 2023 to December 2024.

Dr. Kasni, an esteemed expert in Bahasa language and cultural studies from Denpasar, Bali, brings invaluable insights to CMU’s AB Sociology program. Through her role as a visiting professor, she conducts Bahasa language courses at CMU, offering students the unique opportunity to learn the Indonesian language and culture from an expert.

In an interview, Dr. Raquelyn J. Dadang, Director of CMU’s International Relations Office, said that Dr. Kasni’s presence has significantly enriched the AB Sociology program by fostering cross-cultural experiences and establishing a platform for broader global dialogue.

“As a university committed to international standards, CMU [strategically invites] visiting professors [mostly] from our partner universities. The presence  of Dr. Wayan in the University  has  greatly enhanced the  AB Sociology curricular program and fostered  cross-cultural experiences among our learners,” said Dr. Dadang.

This academic partnership was formally established through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between CMU and Universitas Warmadewa, representing both institutions’ mutual dedication to international cooperation, cultural exchange, and academic excellence. Dr. Dadang noted that CMU and Universitas Warmadewa are planning to renew the MOA for another two years, extending the partnership from 2025 to 2027. This renewal will further strengthen the relationship between the universities, fostering ongoing opportunities for academic exchange and collaboration while advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).  [Iyren Dalipe Neri with information from  Mr. Andrew James Infiesto, faculty, Behavioral Sciences Department]
