In view of the extreme (heat) weather conditions and consistent with Executive Order No 27, series of 2024 issued by Atty. Jose Joel P. Doromal, Municipal Mayor of Maramag, the University will adopt interim measures to minimize heat exposure of University personnel and students.
Effective April 22, 2024, the following shall be observed for the safety of all concerned:
[1] Suspension of mandatory wearing of uniforms for all personnel and students (graduate and undergraduate), except for NSTP for security reasons. Personnel and students will wear appropriate and comfortable clothing when reporting to work/classes.
[2] Face-to-face classes shall be conducted only from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For purposes of clarity, face-to-face classes shall be defined as classes where students will have to physically attend classes in the classrooms. Classes from 1:00 PM onward will transition to blended modalities (face-to-face or asynchronous) as deemed appropriate.
[3] Outdoor activities and classes held in poorly ventilated classrooms are strongly discouraged. Instances where classes under these conditions is unavoidable, faculty members are urged to exercise caution to ensure the safety and well-being of students. Minimizing heat exposure of faculty and students should be given priority.
[4] The NSTP Director shall exercise discretion to encourage outdoor classes to be scheduled during early morning, ensuring optimal conditions for such activities.
[5] Student-led activities and events may be permitted, provided these will take place in well-ventilated venues or are scheduled before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM, ensuring strict adherence to safety measures and guidelines governing student activities.
[6] The college student councils in coordination with the Deans of colleges are encouraged to provide water dispensers for students in their respective colleges.
[7] The Deans, Directors, and Heads of Units shall ensure that classrooms/offices under their respective jurisdictions are well-ventilated.
[8] All concerned shall take measures to stay cool and hydrated.
