CMU concludes 11th RDE Congress, 38th AIHRE

Central Mindanao University (CMU) concluded its 11th Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Congress and 38th Annual In-House Review and Evaluation (AIHRE) on October 28, 2026, via Zoom, reaffirming its commitment to advancing knowledge and driving community impact.

The three-day event served as a dynamic platform for showcasing research and extension initiatives, fostering collaboration, and exchanging ideas to strengthen the university’s collective dedication to innovation and societal progress.

Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Allan T. Dargantes commended the participants, highlighting the community’s passion, creativity, perseverance, and scholarly excellence. “This year, the presentation and evaluation of 142 papers from both Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) and Non-AANR disciplines reflect the richness of expertise, talent, and dedication within our university,” Dr. Dargantes said.

Office of Extension Director, Dr. Raquel O. Salingay, shared that the papers and extension initiatives presented over the past few days reflect not only technical competence, but also the CMU community’s shared passion to serve communities through RDE.

“As we conclude this year’s AIHRE, let us remember that this congress is merely the beginning of the real work- translating our research findings into meaningful extension services towards improvement of the quality of life of the community we serve,” Dr. Salingay added.

Closing the event, Office of Research Director Dr. Jupiter V. Casas expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all participants and contributors.

Looking ahead, Dr. Casas inspired attendees with a call to action: “May we carry the momentum of this RDE Congress and AIHRE forward. Let us continue to nurture a culture where inquiry is encouraged, innovation is embraced, and extension remains rooted in compassion and social responsibility.”

The congress was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development and Extension and the Office of Research and Extension, supported by 48 evaluators from various State Colleges, Universities, and external agencies.

This event advances several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). [Mary Jane D. Bravo]
