Central Mindanao University Academic Paradise of the South
Expanding its international academic network, the College of Human Ecology of Central Mindanao University (CMU-CHE) participated in the 2nd Human Ecology International Conference (HEIC II 2026), a global gathering of researchers, educators, and higher education representatives focused on advancing human well-being through research and community-based solutions.
Hosted by the Faculty of Human Ecology at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in partnership with the Human Ecology Institute of the Philippines, Inc. (HUMEIN-Phils) and other global partners, the conference carried the theme “Sustaining Human Well-Being.” Discussions covered youth and family development, mental health, social inclusion, sustainable lifestyles, and artificial intelligence.
Representing CMU-CHE, Dr. Rubie A. Arroyo, Vice President of the Mindanao Chapter of HUMEIN-Phils, joined fellow HUMEIN-Phils delegates led by the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) in an official meeting and ocular visit at UPM to explore opportunities for stronger academic and institutional collaboration.
The three-day conference featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, parallel scholarly presentations, and a roundtable discussion on the regional trajectory of human ecology. Among its highlights were a book launch and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UPM and HUMEIN-Phils, laying the groundwork for future research collaborations and institutional linkages.
Arroyo expressed appreciation for the opportunity, noting that the experience would contribute to her professional growth.
“The knowledge, experiences, and meaningful exchanges I gained from this conference will contribute significantly to my continuous professional development,” she said.
