Central Mindanao University Academic Paradise of the South
To continuously ensure test validity and academic standards, the Central Mindanao University Admission Test (CMUAT) Board conducted a pilot test of the revised Central Mindanao University College Admission Test (CMUCAT) for undergraduate applicants at Siquijor State College, Larena, Siquijor (SSC) on August 24, 2026.
Under the leadership of University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, the CMUAT Board systematically updates and revises the admission exam annually. Siquijor State College was strategically selected as the host institution for this year’s pilot testing based on historical data indicating a lack of previous CMUCAT examinees from the Province of Siquijor.
The pilot test covered four core areas: English, Mathematics, Science, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. It was administered to first-year SSC students enrolled in BS Criminology, BS Hospitality Management, BSED English, and BS Marine Transportation.
The CMU testing delegation was led by the Office of Admissions Scholarship and Placement (OASP) Director Dr. Cherly C. Cordova, alongside Board Members Dr. Emmanuel P. Leaño, Dr. Athena I. Derayunan, Dr. Freddielyn B. Pontemayor, Dr. Joemar B. Capuyan, Prof. Amita B. Sususco, and Dr. Vanie Y. Benben. They were assisted by Admissions staff members Mr. Jonil P. Tabay and Ms. Maricel Bulasa.
The team was warmly received by Siquijor State College officials, led by President Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Mary Ann M. Temprosa. SSC personnel Ms. Lou Keren Tan, Dr. Rosalina E. Catid, Mr. Ronald Alexis M. Tan, and Mr. John Anthony Y. Jimenez provided vital assistance throughout the activity.
The pilot testing forms part of CMU’s continuing efforts to strengthen its admission system through evidence-based assessment and regular test evaluation, supporting fair and appropriate measures for prospective students.
