To further advance its strategic foresight community, Central Mindanao University (CMU) sent selected members of its Administrative Council, including top management leaders, directors, unit heads, and college deans, to complete the four-day βBending Realityβ Strategic Foresight Training facilitated by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) on February 10β13, 2026.

The first two days of the training were held at the University Farmers Training Center, while the remaining two days were held at El Uelos Place in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
CMU and DAP highlighted the value of exploring plausible futures and examining the driving forces that shape them to ensure a more strategic and purposeful development of the Universityβs Strategic Plan. Both institutions emphasized that proficiency in Strategic Foresight and Futures Thinking (SF-FT) is critical for navigating the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment in which the University operates.
Designed to deepen strategic thinking and cultivate future-ready leadership, the training equipped participants with practical foresight tools and frameworks to anticipate emerging challenges, manage uncertainty, and craft resilient institutional strategies.
The program covered key components of scenario planning, including framing the strategic challenge; identifying driving forces; developing scenario building blocks and frameworks; deepening and enriching scenarios; determining implications; crafting strategic options and responses; identifying indicators and signposts; and translating scenario planning into strategy management. These sessions were led by Dr. Alan S. Cajes, who served as the programβs resource person.
The four-day immersive capacity-development intervention engaged 25 participants and integrated strategic foresight methodologies in preparation for Component 3: The Writeshop and Development of the Strategic Plan, scheduled for March 2026.
