[#CMUpride] CMU’s VP for Research, Development, & Extension, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗣. 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀 was chosen as one of six top experts in Southeast Asia for the 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰-𝟮𝟱. SEARCA honors these academics for their impactful research, teaching, and innovation in advancing agricultural and rural development in the region.

Dr. Dargantes, with over 30 years of experience in teaching and research, including 15 years in administrative roles, specializes in veterinary epidemiology and disease ecology. His work has significantly influenced animal and public health in the Philippines and ASEAN countries. Recognized for his outstanding community service, he previously received the Most Outstanding Veterinarian in Extension award in 2023.

As part of this prestigious award, Dr. Dargantes will deliver a public lecture on Understanding African Swine Fever (ASF) in Southern Philippines, aiming to shed light on its epidemiology, financial impact, and perspectives of smallholder farmers toward controlling it.
