Four Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students from Central Mindanao University (CMU) are currently participating in an International Internship Program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FIKKIA), Universitas Airlangga, Banyuwangi Campus, Indonesia. The internship runs from April 28 to May 23, 2025.

Now in their sixth year, Geanne Reiv D. Martinez, Christine Danica R. Ang, Princess Thalia M. Botilla, and Collette J. Sindol are the second batch of CMU students to undergo this immersive international on-the-job training (OJT) under the existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between CMU and Universitas Airlangga.
The collaboration aims to strengthen international academic relations, promote cross-cultural learning, and equip students with practical veterinary experience in a global setting.
During their internship, the CMU students engage in clinical exposure, hands-on animal care, and interdisciplinary learning alongside their Indonesian counterparts. They also learn about Indonesia’s local animal health management systems and veterinary practices.
This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing access to inclusive and equitable international learning opportunities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering meaningful global collaborations in education and research. Moreover, it contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the promotion of animal health and veterinary public service, which are essential to One Health and community well-being.
CMU affirms its mission to produce globally competitive, socially responsible professionals prepared to address local and international animal and public health challenges by embedding global competencies into its veterinary curriculum.
The CMU–Universitas Airlangga partnership continues to pave the way for further academic collaborations, professional development opportunities, and enhanced veterinary education beyond borders.
