Instruction
Central Mindanao University (CMU) sustained its mandate to provide quality instruction, aligned with its vision of becoming a leading academic institution in the ASEAN region. The university’s instruction programs are guided by CHED’s policies, standards, and guidelines (PSGs), alongside internal quality assurance mechanisms and international benchmarking initiatives.
The Instruction Area focused on ensuring academic excellence through updated curricular offerings, faculty development, improved teaching-learning environments, student support services, and stakeholder engagement.
CMU offers 87-degree programs, 36 undergraduate and 31 graduate. It also offers five non-degree programs (certificate and associate courses, short-term/special courses, and TESDA competency courses).

The university’s commitment to serving the poor but deserving students in Mindanao is manifested
by the provision of various scholarships/grants to students. For 2023, the University granted 2,137
institutional scholars for the 2nd Semester AY 2022-2023 and 1,908 for the 1st Semester AY 2023-2024.
Institutional Scholarships
• Entrance Scholarship (Full/Partial) – based on the result of the CMUCAT conducted by the CMU Board of Examiners
• Honors Scholarship – for high school graduates with honors from a class of at least 30 students: Valedictorian & Salutatorian
• University Scholarship – for students with a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.0 to 1.45, enrolled with at least 18 units and without a failing grade or a grade of 3.0 during the preceding semester. Entitlements are free school fees and a monthly stipend.
• College Scholarship – for students with a GWA of 1.4501 to 1.75, enrolled with at least 18 units and without a failing grade or a grade of 3.0 during the preceding semester. Entitlements are free school fees and a monthly stipend.
• Socio-Cultural/Athletic Scholarship – granted to students having special talents in the performing arts (dancing, singing, etc.) and sports; enrolled with a regular load and without a failing grade during the preceding semester. Entitlements include free school fees.
• Socialized Tuition Fee Scheme – granted to students from low-income families.
• Leadership Grant – granted to the following: Chairperson and other elected officers of the CMU Supreme Student Council (SSC); College Council Chairpersons; Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, and Managing Editor of the Central Post.
• Student Assistantship – granted to students who are working on a part-time basis in selected offices of the University. They are required to work at most 10 hours per week at PhP 25.00/h.

National Service Training Program (NSTP)
CMU as a system encourages possible actions that can enhance students’ compassion and patriotism. Thus, the university strongly supports the National Service Training Program (NSTP). The program encourages the youth to become civic and/or military leaders and volunteers whom could be called upon by the nation in cases their services are needed. The NSTP is composed of three different components, namely: Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC), Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS).
Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC)
The CMU Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) is a program that highlights citizenship training and instils patriotism, moral virtues, respect for the rights of civilians and adherence to the constitution. The ROTC continuously implements its mission pursuant to RA 9163 with ROTC as one of the component activities in tertiary level education.
Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)
The CWTS is designed to develop students to become volunteers in uplifting the people’s standard of living in communities classified as DEPRESSED, DISADVANTAGED AND UNDER PRIVILIGED or DDU. It has conducted several activities in line with health, education, public safety, recreation and morale of citizenry and the protection of the environment and promotion of entrepreneurship.
Literacy Training Service (LTS)
The LTS is deliberated to develop students to become volunteers for the general welfare of the marginalized, towards activities that have social impact in Literacy and Numeracy Education.
