CMU Physics Faculty Member to attend advance schooling in Italy

Mr. James B. Salig, Jr. of the Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences will attend  an advance schooling  in Parallel Programming  and Parallel Architecture  for high computing  to be held in Abdus Salam International Centre  for Theoretical Physics, Trieste Italy on October 27 to November 07, 2014. This was announced by Physics Chair Normie Jean D. Sajor during the flag raising ceremony on October 07, 2014  at the Administration Building Ground.

Salig is a young bachelor from Clarin Misamis Occidental, is  a 26 year-old faculty member of  the Physics Department  of the University/ CMU and a graduate of Master of Science in Physics at Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).

In an up close interview  with Salig, he said “ I am happy  somehow, but deep inside, I am also nervous because this will be the first time that I will be travelling outside the country.  There were few times I felt I have to surrender my passion of teaching because no matter how hard I try to become effective, I still feel that I am not productive with the teaching field that I choose.  I know, this is an opportunity for me to excel my  skills not only in teaching but for my lifetime  research in  neuroscience”.

He added that the University has been very supportive in his travel for extending financial support and the approval of his request to travel on official business.
