Central Mindanao University Academic Paradise of the South
The College of Business and Management (CBM) of Central Mindanao University (CMU) has reached another milestone in its internationalization efforts, after four members of its academic community qualified for the prestigious one-year US Certified Management Accountant (US CMA) Scholarship for the current academic year.
The scholarship recipients are Dr. Dynnith F. Suaberon, CPA, who was selected as the faculty scholar, and fourth-year BS Accountancy students Ma. Zulea Jamero, Crispin Jan Maglines, and Erech Jyne Pañares as student scholars.
The one-year scholarship, valued at approximately ₱100,000 per recipient, is awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Asia Pacific and provides scholars with access to one of the world’s most respected professional certifications in management accounting and strategic financial management. Student scholars began their scholarship on June 30, 2026, while the faculty scholarship officially commenced on July 21, 2026.
The scholarship covers the US CMA program, which develops advanced competencies in financial planning, performance management, business analytics, risk management, and strategic decision-making through two examination parts: CMA Part 1: Financial Planning, Performance, and Analytics, and CMA Part 2: Strategic Financial Management.
The scholarship program is conducted fully online, with training and facilitation handled by international facilitators.
CBM Dean Dr. Daryl Jane A. Caballero said the partnership with IMA continues to strengthen the college’s internationalization and professional development initiatives.
“This linkage with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) for US CMA certification strengthens the College’s internationalization and professional development initiatives by providing both student and faculty scholars with access to scholarships, training, examinations, and student leadership opportunities at no cost,” she said.
Dr. Caballero added that the partnership allows faculty members and students to pursue a globally recognized professional credential without the financial burden of certification while complementing their preparation for both local licensure examinations and international professional qualifications.
The scholarship recipients described the award as both an opportunity and a source of motivation to pursue excellence.
Jamero shared that receiving the scholarship strengthened her commitment to achieving her professional goals.
“Receiving this opportunity fills me with immense gratitude and inspires me to pursue excellence with even greater determination,” she said.
Maglines echoed the same appreciation, saying the scholarship serves as both encouragement and a reminder to persevere.
“This scholarship serves as both a source of support and a reminder to keep working hard toward my dream of becoming a future management accountant,” he said.
For Pañares, the scholarship represents confidence in her potential as she prepares for a career in the accounting profession.
“This scholarship is not just financial assistance—it is a vote of confidence in my potential, and in the future I am working so hard to build,” she said.
Dr. Suaberon likewise emphasized that the opportunity will benefit not only her own professional development but also the students she mentors.
“As an accounting educator, I look forward to applying the knowledge and insights I gain to better equip, inspire, and mentor future accounting and finance professionals,” she said.
The achievement stems from CBM’s international partnership with IMA Asia Pacific, which was first established in 2021 and renewed in 2025. The collaboration has continued to expand opportunities for both faculty members and students to pursue globally recognized professional certifications while strengthening their international competencies.
To date, the partnership has produced several US Certified Management Accountants from the College, including faculty member Prof. Raymond S. Pacaldo. In his weekly university update, Dr. Rolito G.Eballe said the sustained success of the initiative reflects CBM’s commitment to academic excellence, meaningful international partnerships, and producing globally competitive accounting professionals.
