Central Mindanao University (CMU) conducted a tree planting activity on June 28, 2013 at the area fronting the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The activity was in support with the World Environment Month Celebration and in compliance with Sec. 32 of the Republic Act (RA) no. 10352 that declares the observance of the Philippine Environment month in June every year.
The College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CFES) spearheaded the activity in collaboration with the Forest Resources Development Project Division (FRDPD) of the UIGP.
The tree planting activity aimed to promote public awareness on the protection and conservation of the natural resources.
Twenty one thousand high quality native seedling species from the FRDPD were planted in a two hectare space of land. The native seedlings included Kalumpit, Lumbayao, White Lauan, Pricky Narra, Bagalunga, Kalomata, Molave and Tindalo.
A total of 730 faculty members and staff and more than five thousand students joined the activity (RGPadoginog/UPIO).
