Faculty members from the College of Education and College of Arts and Sciences, namely, Dr. Gladys S. Escarlos, Dr. Ma. Viviene S. Salon, and Prof. Amita B. Sususco represented Central Mindanao University at the International Academic Forum (IAFOR 2024) and presented their completed research in the 16th Asian Conference on Education or ACE 2024, held last year in November in Toshi Center Hotel, Tokyo, Japan.

IAFOR is a research organization dedicated to encouraging interdisciplinary discussions across participating countries, and the ACE is one of the conducive avenues to showcase the research done specifically by educators at all levels, sharing both pedagogical attempts and successful approaches in teaching.
The conference provided a platform for educators to share innovative teaching methods and research. A key highlight was the discussion on “Navigating the Hype and Reality of Generative AI in Higher Education,” which emphasized the need for strategies to foster creativity and prevent misuse of AI in academic settings. The event also encouraged international collaboration by showcasing diverse educational studies influenced by cultural, religious, and legal factors.
During the event, the CMU faculty researchers realized that diverse fields of educational research are deeply influenced by cultural contexts, with religious customs and legislation playing significant roles in shaping educational practices across regions, including Asia and the West. They noted that international conferences like ACE 2024 go beyond the exchange of research ideas and materials; they also foster cultural understanding and meaningful interactions among participants. These interactions open doors to networking opportunities for potential international partnerships and collaborations. The CMU presenters emphasized that such global research exchanges are vital for advancing internationalization efforts, particularly in building collaborative research projects and strengthening global linkages.
Dr. Escarlos, Dr. Salon, and Prof. Sususco expressed their gratitude for the opportunity afforded by the kind assistance of CMU administration, particularly the Office of International Relations. (information from Prof. Amita B. Sususco, faculty, CAS-DLL)
