Central Mindanao University joined the nationwide observance of the first-ever Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Month during its monthly convocation held at the University Convention Center on May 5, 2025.
Presidential Proclamation No. 818, series of 2025, designates May as EODB Month. The EODB initiative is rooted in Republic Act No. 11032, also known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018,” which aims to streamline government procedures and improve service delivery.
The month-long observance seeks to raise public awareness and encourage both government agencies and private sector stakeholders to enhance the ease of doing business across the Philippines.
Anchored on this year’s theme, “Red Tape to Red Carpet: Better Business Movement in a Bagong Pilipinas (#R2C: BBMBP),” a series of events will be conducted as key activities of the celebration. These include the inspection of office billboards displaying frontline services, a seminar, a one-stop shop, and a fun run to culminate the EODB celebration.

Dr. Haidee Helena H. Garcia, CMU’s Committee on Anti-Red Tape (CART) Focal Person, delivered a message emphasizing the importance of the Citizen’s Charter and the promotion of efficient service delivery across all university offices. “All applications or requests submitted must be acted upon by the assigned officer or employee within the prescribed processing time stated in the Citizen’s Charter—no longer than 3, 7, or 20 working days: 3 days for simple transactions, 7 days for complex ones, and 20 days for highly technical transactions,” Dr. Garcia explained.

The convocation featured Ms. Luzel S. Masucol, a CMU alumna who currently serves as the Municipal Government Department Head I and Human Resource Management Officer V at the Local Government Unit of Maramag, as the guest speaker. Ms. Masucol shared insights into the transformative initiatives undertaken by LGU Maramag as part of its proactive response to the national mandate under Republic Act No. 11032.

The ceremony also included the recognition of outstanding colleges for their achievements and employees with outstanding contributions, followed by an oath-taking ceremony for newly hired and promoted employees. [Mary Jane D. Bravo]
