CBM faculty win 7 of 8 professional research awards at nat’l biz con

Faculty members of the Central Mindanao University–College of Business and Management (CMU-CBM) won seven of the eight research awards in the Professional Category during the 2nd Business and Innovation Conference held on June 24, 2026, at Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City.

The conference featured 55 research entries from higher education institutions across the country, competing under four major categories: Accounting and Finance, Hospitality and Tourism, Economics and Development, and Business and Management.

In the Accounting and Finance category, Paolo Augustus R. Bagares received the Best Presenter award, while the research team composed of Paolo Augustus R. Bagares, Daryl Jane A. Caballero, Ronel V. Sudaria, and Jennyvi M. Cañete earned the Best Paper award.

In the Business and Management category, Ronel V. Sudaria garnered both the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards. Meanwhile, Yonie V. Pahayac received both the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards in the Economics and Development category. Completing the College’s award haul, Jennyvi M. Cañete was recognized as Best Presenter in the Hospitality and Tourism category.

In an interview, College of Business and Management Dean Dr. Daryl Jane A. Caballero said the delegation attended the conference with the primary goal of sharing their research and strengthening the College’s research initiatives.

“I’m extremely proud of this achievement. We came to the event with the simple goal of presenting our research and advancing the College’s commitment to increasing our research activities this year. To end up receiving the majority of the awards was truly unexpected and deeply meaningful for us,” she said.

Caballero noted that the awards reflect not only the faculty members’ competence but also the College’s culture of collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to the research and scientific process in addressing real-world challenges and developing practical solutions.

She added that the achievement serves as an inspiration for students to pursue research with greater confidence, curiosity, and purpose, while motivating the College to continue producing innovative research with meaningful impact on communities.

This achievement advances the University’s contribution to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by fostering a strong research culture, while supporting SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through research that promotes entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development.
