Central Mindanao University (CMU) community officially welcomed the holiday season with resounding cheers and applause as it illuminated its Golden Christmas-themed display during the lighting ceremony at the Administration Quadrangle on December 1, 2025.
This year’s Christmas lighting, dubbed as “Ginintoang Pasko’ which translates as “Golden Christmas,” was for more than just lights and decoration; it is a profound celebration of the core Filipino values of community, family, and creating priceless, treasured, or golden moments, as stated in the rationale of the event.

Dr. Bryan Lee Celeste, head of this year’s Golden Christmas Lighting Working Committee, shared that “Ginintoang Pasko” reflects CMU’s way of celebrating the most precious aspects of life: cherished memories, strong family bonds, and a united community.
“Finally, let us strengthen the spirit of community. This Golden Christmas Lighting encapsulates the symbolic brilliance of our sense of community. Let us work together for one common goal. This collective spirit must be shown through our hope and aspirations,” Dr. Celeste asserted.

In his message, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe emphasized that the lights represent the true spirit of the season, togetherness, and support for one another, and gratitude. “It has been a busy time for all of us, and moments like this allow us to pause, relax, and enjoy the camaraderie that strengthens us as one CMU family,” Dr. Eballe said.
Dr. Eballe likened the Christmas lighting event to a symbol of CMU values that the University upholds: “excellence in what we do, integrity in how we serve, and commitment to helping our communities grow.”
The celebration featured the dazzling golden Christmas lights that brightened the entire pathway from the main gate to the Administration Building. The CMU main gate was adorned with various festive light decorations, while a tunnel near the entrance glowed with golden lights, creating a radiant passageway for visitors to walk through.
Additionally, the Centennial Landmark and the Administration Building, along with the post lamps around the quadrangle, were adorned with Christmas tree–shaped lights. The two giant Christmas trees stood elegantly decorated with shimmering golden stars.
The event was further highlighted by large parols made by various student organizations and colleges hung at the Admin Building, adding vibrant creativity to the festive display.
Attendees were also treated to special performances by the CMU–Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) 2025 delegates, including the CMU Music Society Choir, Kundiman, Vocal Duet, Indigenous Dance, Folk Dance, Contemporary Dance, Street Dance, and Dance Sport. The event also featured a lively community dance and a vibrant fireworks display.
The evening ended on a joyful note with singing and dancing led by the G# Band, followed by students and staff taking photos with the golden Christmas lights display. [Mary Jane D. Bravo]
