Showcasing Central Mindanao University’s (CMU) academic and research excellence, a student from the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics presented during the 25th Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society of Asia (PENSA) Congress, held at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on October 7-11, 2025.

Felix Anastacio Jr., along with co-authors Rhizel N. Alberca and Cassey Zayla A. Aleta, achieved a significant milestone when their research was selected among 129 accepted abstracts. Mr. Anastacio presented their study titled “The Influence of Disease Severity, Dietary Intake and Nutritional Status on Clinical Outcomes of Critically Ill Patients: A Cross-sectional Study,” which explored the link between nutritional status, disease severity, and clinical outcomes in critical care. His presentation marked the first time an undergraduate from CMU’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics presented at an international professional organization.
Accompanied by research adviser Ms. Dawn Fatima S. Cuevas, RND, MSc, and panel member Ms. Caryl Joyce Salar, RND, Mr. Anastacio shared, “This opportunity validates our efforts and motivates future nutrition professionals in Mindanao.”
PENSA 2025 served as a vital platform for advancing nutrition care in the region. With the theme “Strengthening Impactful Nutrition Globally through Science, Practice, Education, and Networking (SINGSPEN),” the event brought together global experts, researchers, and professionals to share innovations in nutrition therapy.
The congress emphasized multidisciplinary approaches in parenteral and enteral nutrition, emphasizing collaboration and knowledge exchange.
