In line with the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month, Central Mindanao University (CMU) held its monthly convocation on July 7, 2025, at the University Convention Center, focusing on the theme of building resilient communities.

Gracing the event as guest speaker was Maramag Municipal Mayor and CMU alumnus, Hon. Atty. Jose Joel P. Doromal. In his message, Mayor Doromal underscored that resilience in communities is built on unity and preparedness. He also recognized CMU as a vital partner in empowering local government units (LGUs) like Maramag through science-based research and expertise.
“Your work is the foundation of knowledge we build safer and stronger communities,” Mayor Doromal said.
Mayor Doromal also elaborated on the continued partnership of CMU and the LGU in developing projects aimed at protecting the vulnerable communities.
Mayor Doromal shared the different steps the municipality has taken in building a resilient Maramag. This included partnerships with various volunteer groups and stakeholders in the implementation of different programs in line with disaster resilience.
In conclusion, Mayor Doromal reminded everyone that resilience is a continuous journey and it needs proactivity, innovation, compassion, and courage to move forward despite challenges.
