Central Mindanao University (CMU) celebrates the global leadership of Dr. Cecilia O. Bucayong, who serves as a Board Member of the World University Network of Innovation for Leaders (WUNI-L). WUNI-L is a branch of the World University Rankings for Innovation Foundation (hereinafter WURIF), a non-stock, non-profit organization in the Republic of Korea. She was recently selected as one of the Guest Editors for an upcoming international publication on university innovation and AI-driven management.
Dr. Bucayong has been actively engaged in WUNI-L’s strategic initiatives, collaborating with fellow innovation leaders in gatherings focused on charting the network’s future. The meeting reflected on WUNI-L’s progress, refined its shared identity, and reinforced its members’ collective commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A key highlight was the presentation of official certificates by WUNI-L President Dr. Robert Frederick Hayden, formally recognizing the outstanding contributions of Board Members and Executive Officers.
Further amplifying her global engagement, Dr. Bucayong participated in the 5th Annual Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) Conference, held on July 9–11 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. The event, themed “Breaking Barriers, Empowering Change,” brought together university leaders from around the world to discuss transformative approaches to education, leadership, and global cooperation.
Adding to her recent achievements, Dr. Bucayong was selected as a Guest Editor for an upcoming special issue led by the WURI Rankings and WUNI-L. Chosen from a competitive pool of high-caliber global educators, she will define the issue’s theme and scope, oversee the peer review process, curate submissions, and co-author the editorial introduction. The announcement was made during the HLU Conference, with her editorial plan to be formally presented at the Global WURI Conference 2025 in Korea.
“My role as a WUNI Leader and Guest Editor is both a privilege and a responsibility—to contribute to global innovation in higher education while representing CMU in advancing scholarly dialogue and transformative practices.” – Dr. Cecilia O. Bucayong
