Central Mindanao University Laboratory High School (CMULHS), a premier institution known for delivering quality secondary education, celebrated its 71st Commencement Exercises with a Thanksgiving, a Tribute to Parents, and the Recognition of Outstanding Students on June 11, 2025, at the University Convention Center.

With the theme “Conquering Horizons through Global Foresight, Performance Management, and Innovation,” the event brought together faculty, students, parents, and alumni in a celebration of academic achievement, community, and collaboration.
The program featured inspiring messages from a student representative, a parent, a teacher, and a school administrator, each highlighting the importance of perseverance, gratitude, and the shared journey of growth throughout high school.

During the Thanksgiving, Tribute to Parents, and Recognition of Outstanding Students program, the keynote address was delivered by Fr. Ambrosio Flores, SJ. In his inspiring message, he encouraged the graduates to reflect deeply on their life’s purpose. Fr. Flores emphasized four core virtues to guide them on their journey: self-awareness, ingenuity, love, and heroism.
“Innovation isn’t just about chasing what’s new,” he said. “It’s about becoming—because in the end, the greatest innovation is not what we build, but who we allow ourselves to become in God’s hands.”

Moreover, Mr. Fred Gulliver S. Casona, representing the Class of 2025, expressed the collective gratitude of the graduates: “We are forever grateful to CMU for shaping our academic prowess, which I know will come in handy as we go on with college.”

Furthermore, Dr. Joemar B. Capuyan, School Principal, recognized the contribution of the parents in his message. “To the parents who have been our partners in instilling values and discipline in our students and children, we are truly blessed to have served you with the utmost respect,” Dr. Capuyan shared.

Meanwhile, Atty. Lizzamae Grace A. Laviña, an alumna of CMULHS, served as the guest speaker during the 71st Commencement Exercises, which included the 8th Senior High School Graduation and the 10th Moving-Up Ceremony. In her speech, she reflected on her own high school journey at CMULHS and inspired the graduates and completers by sharing how the school shaped her personal and academic growth.
“As completers and graduates of CMU Laboratory High School, you can be confident that the training you have received over the past four to six years has prepared you to face and conquer the world,” Atty. Laviña added.
One of the ceremony’s highlights was the presentation of academic and special awards, which honored the dedication, resilience, and accomplishments of the graduating class.
The event marked the end of an academic chapter and celebrated the enduring values and spirit that CMULHS continues to instill in every student. This year, 119 students graduated from Senior High School, while 158 students completed Junior High School. [Mary Jane D. Bravo]
