CMU OFFICIAL STATEMENT | 07 July 2025

Central Mindanao University, as an institution of higher learning, strongly condemns any form of grave threat, intimidation, or unbecoming expression of opinion, whether directed at university officials, faculty, staff, students, alumni, or university guests.
Let it be made clear: CMU will never tolerate actions that undermine the rule of law, disrupt the peace of the academic community, or compromise the safety and integrity of its officials. Freedom of expression is a constitutional right, but it must never be used as a cloak to threaten, defame, or malign others.
In this digital age, technology has empowered law enforcement authorities to trace the origin of online threats, libelous posts, and acts of cyber disinformation. No one is beyond accountability and the law. The University will cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure that those who sow fear, propagate falsehoods, and issue malicious threats are held liable under existing laws, including but not limited to: The Revised Penal Code on Grave Threats and Libel, and Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
We urge the public, especially members of the CMU community, to exercise discernment, responsibility, and respect when using both traditional and digital platforms. Any commission of these crimes shall be immediately reported to the CMUโs Office of Security Services, the nearest Cybercrime Division of the Philippine National Police, and the National Bureau of Investigation for possible filing of criminal, civil, and administrative charges as the case may be. Let us remain committed to civility, due process, and lawful discourse.
Central Mindanao University remains firm in upholding the rule of law, democratic values, and the safety and dignity of every official, employee, and stakeholder.
We will act with firmness and fairness— as always, Central Mindanao University.
