The Central Mindanao University Center for Gender and Development (CGAD) marked the culmination of the National Women’s Month Celebration on March 30, 2026, at the University Convention Center, anchored on the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”
The culminating activity gathered university officials, faculty, and staff in a meaningful celebration of women’s leadership, resilience, and contributions to the University and society.
In his opening message, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe underscored the significance of the celebration as a recognition of women’s enduring impact across all sectors of life.
“Today is not only a celebration, but a recognition of the enduring impact of women in shaping our institution, our communities, and our families,” he said.
He emphasized that women in Central Mindanao University exemplify the institution’s core values through their roles as educators, leaders, researchers, and staff.

Moreover, as part of the culminating activity, participants attended the orientation on “Whistle for Safety: Women and Men in Action during an Emergency,” led by Mr. Tracy Van H. Tangonan, Officer-in-Charg, Director of the CMU Office of Disaster Risk Reduction Management.
The session emphasized the whistle as a simple yet effective, non-violent tool to deter threats, call for help, and enable quick emergency response, reinforcing the University’s commitment to ensuring safer spaces for all.

In her closing message, CGAD Chief Dr. Teresita H. Borres expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the celebration and emphasized its deeper significance.
“This past month has been more than a series of activities—it has been a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in every space of our society,” she shared.
She encouraged the CMU community to continue advancing gender equality beyond the celebration.
“Let us carry this message beyond today, remembering that empowerment is not confined to this month only, but a mission we uphold every single day of our lives,” she added.
The program concluded with a strong call to action for continued advocacy and collective responsibility: “An empowered woman creates an empowered world—when a woman rises, everyone rises,” Dr. Borres concluded.
The month-long celebration featured activities promoting wellness, creativity, and advocacy. Among the highlights were the free self-care services held from March 9–16 at the CGAD Hall, the “I Juana Run Again” under the MUSPO Series, and various competitions such as the Poster Making, Best Selfie and Groufie, and the Ulirang Ina Awards.
