CMU Class of 2025 grads receive diplomas, TORs upon graduation

Central Mindanao University (CMU) made history during its 71st Commencement Exercises by immediately distributing diplomas and Transcripts of Records (TORs) to the graduating Class of 2025 on-site, during the ceremonies.

This initiative enabled the graduates to leave the event with their academic credentials in hand. It received widespread positive feedback from both graduates and the public, who praised the simplified access to documents essential for employment and licensure examinations.

University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe noted that this milestone reflects the university’s commitment to service excellence and the its ongoing efforts to improve its systems.

“The successful same-day release of Diplomas and Transcript of Records during the 71st Commencement Exercises is a reflection of our commitment to service excellence and continual improvement of our systems to serve our clientele and stakeholders better,” Dr. Eballe said.

Dr. Eballe also expressed his gratitude to the working committees, especially the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Office of the University Registrar, for making the initiative possible. He also commended the students for their prompt processing of clearances, which was instrumental in making this initiative a success.

According to Dr. Allan E. Salonga, the University Registrar, this move acknowledged the diverse backgrounds of the students, many of whom travel from distant provinces to pursue their education. He added that streamlining the process helped the students obtain necessary documents without delay.

“By streamlining our processes, we ensure that our graduates can transition smoothly into the workforce, pursuing board exams or employment opportunities without delay. No longer will they need to linger on campus or return repeatedly to obtain necessary documents,” Dr. Salonga added.

One of the graduates, Arlyn Gaea Pearl B. Boquila from the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, shared that receiving the actual copies of her diploma and TOR made her graduation feel more complete.

“For me personally, I found the process smooth and convenient. I really appreciate receiving my TOR and diploma on the same day since I could check them right away and didn’t need to come back later. It made the graduation day feel more complete and less stressful. After that, I was able to apply for a job and process my [civil service] application,” Boquila said.

Boquila added that the distribution was also smooth and organized.

A total of 2,940 graduates were conferred with their degrees during the two-day event. Among them, three were awarded summa cum laude, 116 magna cum laude, and 908 cum laude. Jhamyle B. Pangcoga of the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics also received the Commission on Higher Education Universal Student Financial Access to Quality Tertiary Education (CHED UniFAST) Academic Excellence Award. This award, given under the CHED UniFAST program, recognizes graduating students with the highest general weighted average as per the university’s academic guidelines.
