Central Mindanao University (CMU) advanced its internationalization and research engagement efforts through its participation in the 6th International Sociological Association – Council of National Associations Conference (ISA-CNAC 2025) held from December 17 to 20, 2025, at FLAME University in Pune, India.
Carrying the theme “Building Resilient Sociologies: Voices, Visions, and Ventures,” the conference convened presidents and delegates of national sociological associations from across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The gathering provided a global platform for dialogue on the challenges and opportunities facing sociology in the 21st century.

Dr. Bryan Lee Celeste represented both the Philippine Sociological Society (PSS) and Central Mindanao University during the international conference. Through active engagement in plenary discussions and workshops, Dr. Celeste showcased the contributions of Philippine sociology while building connections with international scholars and academic leaders.
ISA-CNAC 2025 featured workshops on external research funding, academic publications, and international collaboration, which are vital for universities and professional organizations seeking to expand research capacity and global partnerships. Participation in these sessions opened opportunities for potential collaborative research projects, faculty exchanges, and student mobility initiatives for CMU.
For the Philippine Sociological Society, Dr. Celeste’s participation reinforced its commitment to strengthening ties with national associations worldwide and gaining insights into sustaining sociology as a discipline through inclusive and resilient academic communities.
For CMU, the engagement aligns with the University’s strategic goal of integrating international perspectives into its academic and research programs. As internationalization continues to be a priority in higher education, CMU’s involvement in global academic forums such as ISA-CNAC highlights its growing role in international scholarly networks and academic leadership.
The networks and insights gained from ISA-CNAC 2025 are expected to serve as catalysts for future collaborations, further enhancing CMU’s visibility and contribution to sociological scholarship in the Philippines and beyond. (Information from Dr. Bryan Lee Celeste)
