Central Mindanao University Academic Paradise of the South
Sci-App, a startup incubated at Central Mindanao University Technology Business Incubator (CMU TBI), held a demonstration at the University of the Philippines Baguio on April 28, 2025.
The event, entitled “Modern Ways to Teach Physics for Math and Science Educators,” featured SciApp 3D Instructional Apparatus for Vector Operations, a tool designed to enhance physics education by providing a hands-on method for exploring vector operations. Unlike conventional force tables limited to two dimensions, the device allows users to perform three-dimensional vector addition, subtraction, dot products, cross products, and derivation of equations.
The demonstration was led by the device’s inventor, Dr. Cecilia O. Bucayong, and received positive feedback from educators in attendance. The attendees commended her apparatus for simplifying complex concepts and increasing student engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
Dr. Bucayong shared that her experience as a teacher showed the challenge of making complex scientific concepts understandable more enjoyable and accessible to learn. Moreover, she added that SciApp is demonstrating that Filipino-made innovations could lead the way in transforming education nationwide.
“It’s not just about improving comprehension; it’s about sparking curiosity and making science enjoyable and accessible. With SciApp, we’re not only enhancing classroom instruction but also demonstrating that Filipino-designed innovations can lead the way in transforming education nationwide,” Dr. Bucayong said.
