CMU firmly stands that poverty cannot be used knowingly by anybody as an excuse for illegal and professional land grabbing. The actions of the intruders are not just attacks on CMU’s property; these are attacks on the future of our nation. These deprive young minds of the essential resources to nurture the next generation of leaders and professionals. Seizing lands reserved for CMU, the land grabbers are not just committing usurpation of CMU’s land holdings; they are devastating the bright future of our young and incoming generations. More than just physical spaces, these lands are the foundations of our educational and developmental endeavors. The loss is a grave blow to the nation’s hopes and dreams, and our collective intergenerational responsibility is to protect them.
As the University of the Poor but intellectually deserving students, CMU continually works towards academic excellence in higher and graduate education for nation-building and global competitiveness. It is therefore imperative for the CMU administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders to have CMU’s lands protected and preserved.
President Carlos P. Garcia’s Proclamation No. 476 issued on January 16, 1958, remains a valid law until today.
