CMU’s Non-Teaching Youth Employees Complete Leadership and Empowerment Training Seminar

The Central Mindanao University Employee Association Inc. (CMUEAI) recognizes the vital role of young employees in shaping the future of the institution. To support this, the CMU Employee Association Inc. – Youth Council (CMUEAI-Youth) hosted a Leadership and Empowerment Training Seminar for non-teaching young employees. The event took place on March 14, 2025, at the University Center for Gender and Development Training Hall.

The seminar covered topics such as Understanding Your Value, Effective Communication Skills, and Building Collaborative Relationships.

In her opening remarks, CMUEAI Youth President Ms. Iyren Dalipe-Neri emphasized that the Leadership and Empowerment Training Seminar provided CMU’s young non-teaching employees with an opportunity to identify their strengths, enhance their leadership skills, and cultivate a proactive, innovative, and service-oriented mindset.

“Through interactive workshop, insightful discussions, and team-building exercises, we will gain valuable perspectives that will shape us into effective leaders-leaders who are ready to face challenges, foster collaboration, and make a positive impact in our respective roles,” Ms. Neri added.

Moreover, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe was pleased to see some of the youth members of CMUEAI participating in the first empowerment and leadership training seminar for CMU employees and even encouraged the CMU Faculty Association to offer similar training programs. “We look forward to seeing you [non-teaching staff] lead your respective units in the future,” Dr. Eballe said.

Furthermore, the participants shared their experiences and insights from the workshop, emphasizing the importance of self-empowerment, leadership development, and working with passion.

Ms. Jay Ann D. Diabelos, a staff member from the College of Agriculture, expressed her thoughts and encouraged her fellow participants to continue serving CMU with passion. “Lami sa paminaw nga maka-attend ani nga training, kay maboost imong confidence, maka-enlighten sa imoha,” (It feels great to be able to attend this training because it will boost your confidence and enlighten you.) Ms. Diabelos shared.

Additionally, Mr. Jed Rex Timtim, a staff member from the Office of Financial Management Services, shared his key takeaways from the training. He emphasized the importance of not limiting oneself to what they already know, as well as the value of collaboration and teamwork among office employees.

The facilitators, led by Mr. Ceasar Enrico Delos Reyes and his team from the Youth Empowerment Society of Bukidnon (YES Bukidnon), an accredited youth-serving organization, successfully conducted the leadership training, which was completed by a total of 46 non-teaching employees.
