CMU hosts 2025 RAISE X Summit

Taking the lead in harnessing the region’s innovation ecosystem, Central Mindanao University (CMU) hosted the 2025 RAISE X Summit at the CMU University Convention Center on January 21-22, 2025.

The summit, themed “Converging Stakeholders Toward Resilient Northern Mindanao through Agri-Aqua Innovations Harnessing Science and Technology for Sustainable Growth,” was designed as a gathering of diverse stakeholders to explore sustainable solutions for the region’s agricultural and aquacultural industries through science and technology.

CMU President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe describes the event as a significant milestone in the region’s journey towards a more sustainable future.

“It provides a platform for us to forge stronger partnerships, showcase cutting-edge technologies, empower our future agri-aqua leaders, incubatees, and entrepreneurs, and particularly promote entrepreneurship and innovation in this part of the country,” Dr. Eballe said during his welcome remarks.

Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (NOMCAARRD) Director Dr. Maria Estela B. Detalla stated that this year’s summit will be just the first of the many RAISE summits that will foster a resilient Northern Mindanao through agri-aqua innovations.

During the media conference, RAISE X Program Lead Dr. Vellorimo J. Suminguit also laid out the ways how the program can help innovators and the agri-aqua sectors. This included training and support in intellectual property (IP) applications and identifying existing technologies that can be harnessed and used by the public.

The event featured panel discussions and exhibits of innovations from the different research centers of the university, partner agencies, and NOMCAARRD.

Another highlight of the event was the technology pitch wherein innovators presented their technologies to different representatives of government agencies and investors for assistance in funding and development of their products.

Meanwhile, regional offices under the Department of Agriculture introduced areas for research and development that can be explored by faculty researchers and students during the reverse pitching session. Among these are low-cost feed formulation, early disease detection, and climate change vulnerability assessment.

An Incubatees’ Summit and Graduation of CMU Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (CMU-ATBI) capped the event.

RAISE or the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovations System Enhancement Program is a program by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) that aims to strengthen its pursuit of bringing innovative solutions closer to the people, stimulating inclusive growth and regional development.
