Central Mindanao University (CMU) has once again solidified its standing as a premier institution of higher learning after being awarded the Level III Institutional Re-Accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) under the theme “Elevate, Empower, and Expand QA in Higher Education.”

This recognition places CMU among the Level III institutions in the country and the sole university in Mindanao to achieve this distinction. The prestigious award was conferred upon University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe during the 38th AACCUP Annual National Conference held at Marikina Polytechnic College on March 7, 2025.
The Level III Institutional Re-Accreditation is a hallmark of academic excellence, granted to universities that demonstrate high-quality standards in instruction, faculty, research, community service, student support, and governance. It signifies CMU’s continuous commitment to providing world-class education and fostering a culture of excellence, leadership, and service.
In his message, Dr. Eballe expressed his gratitude to the AACCUP evaluation team, faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders who contributed to this success. “This award is a recognition of our collective efforts to provide excellent education and services to our students and the community,” he said.
The university was first granted Level II Institutional Re-Accreditation in 2017, and in pursuit of higher accreditation, CMU underwent another rigorous institutional accreditation process last year from January 29 to February 2, 2024, where it successfully met the criteria for Level III status.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bienvenido Butanas Jr., Office of Quality Assurance Director, emphasized that this accreditation reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
“Receiving the Institutional Re-Accreditation Level III from AACCUP is a great recognition of our efforts. It shows how well we’re doing as an institution in key areas and highlights both our strengths and the areas [in which] we can still improve. While achieving Level IV is a challenging goal, we believe it’s possible with the right guidance, focus, and clear strategies that align with the standards of excellence. We are excited and ready to continue working toward that next level.”
With the Level III Re-Accreditation status, CMU remains steadfast in its pursuit of innovation and excellence. [Iyren Dalipe Neri]
