NZ Ambassador Visits CMU to Promote Manaaki NZ Scholarship Program

Central Mindanao University (CMU), dedicated to advancing knowledge through the internationalization of education, welcomed New Zealand (NZ) Ambassador Dr. Catherine McIntosh to promote the Manaaki NZ Scholarships to CMU’s emerging scholars and professionals. The forum took place at the University Office of the President Conference Room on January 16, 2025.

The Manaaki NZ Scholarships are designed to empower problem-solvers, change-makers, and highly capable individuals to reach their potential and become leaders in their communities and countries. The program offers 16 to 25 fully funded scholarship slots nationwide, with priority fields for CMU including Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, and Forestry.

In his welcome remarks, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe expressed confidence that the visit would inspire CMU students, faculty, and staff to strive for excellence, push the boundaries of innovation, and strengthen global partnerships. “We are confident that this visit will mark the beginning of a long and successful partnership for all,” Dr. Eballe added.

During the forum, Dr. McIntosh shared insights about the Manaaki NZ Scholarships as a reflection of NZ’s commitment to offering not only education but also a life-changing opportunity for personal and professional growth. “New Zealand’s assistance to the Philippines is all about people. The Manaaki NZ Scholarship will change and enrich your life,” Dr. McIntosh said.

The Manaaki NZ Scholarship program provides comprehensive support, including full tuition, living expenses, establishment allowance, medical and travel insurance, and round-trip airfare between the Philippines and NZ.

Additionally, the online application portal for the Post-Graduate Manaaki NZ Scholarships will open at 12:00 am (midnight) NZT on February 1, 2025, and will close at 12:00 pm (midday) NZT on February 28, 2025. The scholarships are available to eligible candidates from the public, private, and civil society sectors.

Interested applicants are encouraged to check their eligibility and begin preparing their applications early. Further details about the scholarship can be found at www.nzscholarships.govt.nz.
