CMU OP MEMO NO. 04-243, s. 2025
In view of the extreme heat weather conditions and to safeguard the health and safety of all concerned, the University will adopt an interim measure to minimize heat exposure of University personnel and students. Effective April 28, 2025, the following shall be observed for the safety of all concerned:
[1] Suspension of mandatory wearing of uniforms for all students (graduate and undergraduate) except for NSTP. Students shall wear appropriate and comfortable attire when reporting to classes. [2] For employees, the wearing of Filipiniana and ASEAN-inspired attire during flag raising ceremonies on Mondays shall continue, but employees may change into comfortable smart casual attire thereafter. University-prescribed uniforms or smart casual attire shall be worn for the rest of the working days of the week. [3] Faculty members may transition to a blended learning modality (face-to-face or asynchronous) for classes between 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, subject to the approval of the Department Chairperson, with consideration to the extreme heat index levels. [4] Classes to be conducted in outdoor settings and in classrooms with poor ventilation after 10:00 AM are highly discouraged. If classes (both lecture and laboratory) are necessary during this period of the day, the faculty concerned must exercise prudence in ensuring the security and safety of everyone. [5] The Deans, Directors, and Heads of Units shall ensure that classrooms/offices under their respective jurisdictions are well ventilated. [6] All concerned shall take measures to stay cool and hydrated. The Memorandum shall remain in effect until the Heat Index becomes normal based on the data of DOST-PAGASA.
