Ushering a wave of change in the university’s identity, the Committee on Branding and Standardization of Signages finally launched the university’s visual identities in a special flag-raising ceremony on June 5, 2023, at the University Convention Center.
The creation of these identities follows the University’s aim to differentiate itself from other educational institutions. These identities were made in consultation with the different units and offices in the university. This was spearheaded by the Committee on Branding and Standardization of Signages.
Alongside the visual identities, the University’s branding policies were presented. All these are contained in the Tatak CMU Manual, which will guide in using the University logo, institutional colors, fonts, design style, and use of visuals in various applications.
In his video message, University OIC President Dr. Freddie T. Bernal enjoined the administrators, faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders to strengthen the university’s distinctive brand.
“It is also about time that we communicate in such a way that everyone speaks with one identity and one common message. This aptly contains and trumpets the qualities that helped us speed up our journey toward excellence as well as protect the integrity of CMU’s visual identity,” Dr. Bernal said.
Dr. Bernal also praised the efforts and hard work of the committee in making the CMU brand a reality. He also then encouraged everyone to follow the guidelines on using the University symbols.
“Working together, we can create bold, engaging communication, build strong bonds, and protect the Vision, Mission, and Quality Policy of our University,” Dr. Bernal added.
Although received well by the audience during the presentation, Committee Chair Dr. Ele Dinampo-Lunzaga understood that not everyone would be comfortable with the changes.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I understand that most people resist change, but we believe that armed with the right information, you will be able to grasp and understand and become advocates and champions of that change,” Dr. Lunzaga said.
Dr. Lunzaga also shared that the Committee will conduct an information drive and other activities to create awareness of visual identities and promote their proper use.
For advice and approval, together with other concerns, the public is directed to consult with the University’s Quality Assurance Office. [Johnica Chantal G. Montero]
