Central Mindanao University (CMU) continues strengthening its commitment to science and technology advancement as key officials participated in the official launch of SCIENCE PINAS, an innovation of the Department of Science and Technology – Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII). The event took place on February 13, 2025, at Casa Ibarra, Pasay City.
CMU was among the few select state universities invited by DOST to witness this significant milestone. University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, alongside Vice President for Administration Prof. Hermie P. Pava, attended the event upon the invitation of DOST Assistant Secretary for Technology Transfer, Communications, and Commercialization, Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo Jr.
SCIENCE PINAS is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to take viewers on a virtual journey across the Philippines, uncovering the country’s scientific marvels from various regions. Set to air on GTV from February to April this year, this program is a product of collaboration between DOST, GMA Network, and SM. It seeks to decentralize science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) efforts, fostering regional development and highlighting the impact of scientific advancements nationwide.
Meanwhile, CMU and DOST have maintained a strong partnership in advancing science and technology through various research programs including DOST-funded projects, and centers like the CMU-DOST Tuklas Lunas Development Center, which focuses on the discovery of natural drug candidates from Indigenous medicinal plant and the Bamboo NICER (Niche Centers in the Regions for R&D) Program among others [Iyren Dalipe Neri with information from VPA Hermie P.
