Mark Lloyd A. Monredondo, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering student from Central Mindanao University (CMU), underwent his On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the Department of Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan, Taipei from March 17 to May 9, 2025.
Under the guidance of Engr. Jemima R. Perodes and supervised by Prof. Cheng-Wei Yu, Mr. Monredondo is involved in simulation-based laboratory work focused on River Catchment Modeling. His training focuses on analyzing hydrologic systems using computational tools and techniques within a controlled research environment.
This hands-on experience enabled Mr. Monredondo to explore the complex dynamics of watersheds through advanced modeling software and laboratory simulations. It provided him with valuable insights into both the theoretical and practical aspects of environmental engineering, particularly in understanding water flow, runoff behavior, and watershed management strategies.
“This opportunity is helping me build a strong foundation in hydrologic modeling and environmental systems analysis. Working in a lab setting with simulation tools has deepened my understanding of how water systems behave under various conditions.” Monredondo said.
His participation in this international training program reflects CMU’s ongoing commitment to equipping students with global perspectives and technical competencies through academic partnerships. Mr. Monredondo’s involvement in NTU’s research environment represents a significant step in his professional development as a future civil engineer.
