Central Mindanao University (CMU) celebrated the academic achievements of its students during the 2025 University Recognition and Awards Day held today, April 11, 2025, at the University Convention Center.
The event recognized a total of 485 University Honors, 2,555 College Honors, and 226 First Year Honors for their outstanding academic performance. Additionally, 17 students and student organizations were honored for their exceptional non-academic contributions.
Also commended were the board topnotchers and top-performing programs during the 2024 licensure exams.
Gracing the event as guest speakers were Ms. Margerie H. Concha, LPT and Ms. Shyra Jayne T. As-ason. Both were among the top 10 passers of their respective licensure exams.

Ms. Concha, who ranked 10th in the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers (Secondary Level), shared the key insights that helped her succeed. She said that having a positive mindset and seeing heartaches as God’s redirections helped her prepare for the exams.
She also stressed that hard work, not just manifestation, is the key to success and acknowledged the crucial support from those around her.
“Each step we take is a chance to reach out, connect, and be inspired by others,” she added.
Ms. Concha also encouraged the honorees to view others’ success as motivation.
“Remember, success is not a competition, but a journey we can all share. Let their success remind you that your own dreams are within reach,” she added.

Moreover, Ms. As-ason, who ranked eighth in the November 2024 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination, shared how global foresight, disciplined performance management, and embracing innovation helped her through her journey. She emphasized that conquering horizons is not achieved in a single leap but through consistent, intentional steps.
She also encouraged the honorees to believe in themselves, stay committed, and adapt as they pursue their own aspirations. She reminded them that there are good things beyond setbacks.
“Let this moment remind you that setbacks don’t define you. That even when it feels like you’ve fallen short, something greater may be waiting ahead,” she said.

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe urged the honorees to strive for excellence not only for themselves but also for the people around them.
“As you toil up to even greater heights, I urge you to commit to excellence in all that you do, not just for personal gains but also for giving back to your families and loved ones, for giving honor to our university, and for glorifying the goodness of our God almighty,” Dr. Eballe concluded.
