City of Valencia extols CMU’s impact on local governance

On the last leg of the Institutional Accreditation, the AACCUP accreditors witnessed the words of affirmation by another partner LGU, the City of Valencia, through a testimonial dinner held at Brickhouse Kitchen, Bamboo Springs Park, Valencia City.

Vice Mayor Atty. Teodoro Roteo T. Pepito, an alumnus of CMU, eloquently expressed his gratitude, drawing inspiration from the CMU Hymn to emphasize how the university’s guidance has molded graduates to “become the bulwark of our fatherland.”

“Ever since, CMU has been very supportive of Valencia City, especially in extending extension programs and technical assistance,” Vice Mayor Pepito affirmed.

Moreover, City Administrator Atty. Genaro C. Cadigal Jr., another proud product of CMU, emphasized that the university serves as the training ground for public servants. He pointed out that the city’s leadership, including the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and administrators all bear the mark of CMU’s quality education.

Furthermore, Ms. Hazel Dondonayon, a two-time awardee as Most Outstanding City Nutrition Action Officer and a CMU alumna, credited the University as one of the pillars of the city’s Nutrition Program, specifically acknowledging the instrumental role of CMU extensionist, Ms. Helen Panganiban in achieving the National Nutrition Honor Award.

The positive impact of CMU on the city was further exemplified by the significant reduction of crime incidents by 90%, as well as its role in combating drug-related issues and insurgency as disclosed by the City Administrator. CMU has also provided crucial technical support in diverse fields such as research, agriculture, health, finance, and engineering.

Dr. Myrna Mallari, a former president of Tarlac State University and one of the accreditors, expressed her satisfaction in witnessing how CMU graduates acknowledged the efforts of state universities. She commended CMU for rearing graduates who have become exemplary individuals, contributing positively to society.

Celebrating the achievements of the alumni as the university’s greatest triumphs, Prof. Hermie Pava, VP for Administration, echoed the pride felt by CMU. He acknowledged the generous words shared by the alumni, emphasizing the profound impact CMU has had on shaping their success.

Dr. Jose S. Valmorida, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude to the LGU Valencia for their affirmations and thanked the presence of the accreditors. He assured everyone that CMU is proactive and committed to continuous improvement, welcoming any recommendations that could enhance the university’s services and further elevate its contributions to stakeholders.
