Outstanding Alumni receive a plaque of appreciation

Distinguished alumni received the plaque of appreciation during the Alumni Awards and Luncheon as part of the 108th Unified Foundation Celebration, and Alumni Homecoming held at the University Convention Center, September 14.

CMU Alumni Association Incorporated (CMUAAI) and Alumni Relations and Linkages Office (ARLO) facilitated the selection process of the yearly Outstanding Alumni Awarding for their excellent performance in their respective fields. This year, the awardees were chosen from the graduates of batch 1968 and 1993.

Hon. Manuel F. Zubiri, Congressman 3rd district of Bukidnon graced the program by sharing his knowledge on ASEAN Integration. He detailed the role of Central Mindanao University of the said integration.

“To ASEAN Integration, CMU comes [through] proper education together with proper training equals a strong Filipino” Cong. Zubiri pointed out.

He also encouraged the privileged individuals to at least participate in helping the poor. According to him, he would like to invite everyone to stop unwanted opportunism. “Be that hero today, that your poor brothers and sisters need right now,” he added.

CMU key officials and employees also participated in the activity. Dr. Maria Luisa R. Soliven, University President, cited the humble accomplishments of the university in her message. The president’s term will end this coming December

In her eight years of service, Dr. Soliven revealed the significant achievements of the university in a video presentation. In CMU’s history, she is the first lady president from 1910.

Dr. Soliven also thanked the alumni community for their constant participation and support to the university’s endeavor. “Today, we shall honor our outstanding alumni who have excelled in their various fields, I would like you to know that Central Mindanao University is very very proud of you,” she added.

Further, 2018 Nutritionist-Dietitian board passers were equally recognized in their six consecutive years of garnering a 100% passing rate. The topnotchers – 1 and 4, and passers in the recently concluded Veterinarian licensure examination were also acknowledged.

Dr. Vic Ramayan Josue, Outstanding jubilarian awardee in public service delivered a speech of acceptance in behalf of the awardees. He detailed the importance of internalization of education and distance learning program.

“All alumni and all staff [should] strive together to willingly sacrifice for the greater mission and vision of Central Mindanao University until it becomes the brightest, the healthiest and the most beautiful university in all of the ASEAN nations,” Dr. Josue said.

He also encouraged everyone to be committed in service and willingly sacrifice for the greater mission and vision of the academic community.

All CMU alumni were requested to take the pledge of loyalty to the alma mater led by Hon. Andres M. Labay, Jr., CMUAAI president. (AMMapalo)
