CMU-Intellectual Property & Technology Business Management (CMU-IPTBM) Office’s Statement on the 𝗨𝗡𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗠𝗨 𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗢

“It has come to the attention of this office that certain individuals are using the CMU logo for commercial use (lanyards, shirts, etc.) and social media content. It should be known that the CMU logo is a registered trademark. 𝗖𝗠𝗨 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗼.

Any commercial or personal use of the logo shall require prior license or permission from the university. The unauthorized use of the CMU logo violates the CMU Intellectual Property (IP) rights as stipulated in the BOR-approved Policy Res. No. 45, S. 2020. Per RA 8293 or the ‘Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines’, independent of the civil and administrative sanctions imposed by law, 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝘄𝗼 (𝟮) 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 (𝟱) 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘀 (𝗣𝟱𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬) 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘀 (𝗣𝟮𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬), shall be imposed on any person who is found guilty of committing any of the acts mentioned in Section 155, Section 168 and Subsection 169.1 in RA 8293″.
