CHED-R10 awards CMU as best implementor of CHED Mandates during the 1st Regional Quality Awards

Out of 108 Higher Education Institutions in the region, the Commission on Higher Education-Region 10 recognized CMU as Best Implementor of CHED mandates during the 1st Regional Quality Awards in celebration of the 26th Anniversary of the commission, held last July 17 via ZOOM.

According to CHEDRO 10 Director Dr. Raul C. Alvarez, Jr., the awards were given to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and partner agencies to honor and recognize their notable achievements and significant contributions to CHED RO 10 in pursuit of its mandate.

“CHED Region X has propelled by the goal to be the best in terms of compliance to mandate and delivery of services to the people of Northern Mindanao region to a more proactive and developmental approach.” Dr. Alvarez said.

He added that CHED, HEIs, and partner agencies should embark on the context of revising the quality of higher education as groundwork for the implementation of policies that could bring forth competitiveness among the graduates.

In this pursuit, CMU has always been sincere and persistent in ensuring that quality education in the region is on its top priority.

CHED recognized CMU among 108 HEIs for its excellent performance in the areas of instruction, research and publication,   extension and linkages, and institutional qualifications leading to the designation of its Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary Medicine, and Biology programs as Centers of Excellence (COE) from 2016 up to the present and Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Teacher Education programs as Centers of Development (COD) from 2016 up to the present.

On this note, CHED believes that CMU serves as a potent catalyst for world-class scholarships, best practices, innovative curricula, research and extension, and professional development, thus contributing to local, regional, and national development. CHED acknowledges that these designations bring pride and honor to the rest of the Region X community and the country.

Further, CMU was also recognized by CHED for its consistent adherence to the requirements of the revised guidelines for International Educational Trip Program (CMO 26 series 2015) and for Student Internship Abroad Program (CMO 22 series 2013). This resulted to zero-incident on the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, and staff for SY 2019-2020.

CMU is also awarded for showcasing the Filipino Bayanihan Spirit for taking the initiatives of helping the LGU, and the Province of Bukidnon for the benefit of the local frontline service providers and vulnerable stakeholders who are significantly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, CMU was also praised for its constant coordination of activities, and timely submission of reports, and its consistent adherence to the requirements and guidelines of the various Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs), for Academic Year 2019-2020. 

University President Dr. Jesus Antonio Derije expressed his gratitude to CHED-R10 for the recognition and the unending support given to CMU. He added: “The University commits to the realization of its vision of becoming the leading ASEAN university through living by its quality policy of providing total customer satisfaction for nation-building and global competitiveness.”

Pres. Derije said that the recognition inspires everyone in the university to continue working hard to become better in all its mandates:  quality instruction for all, research, extension, and production to be of service to the people in the province, in the region, and the country.
