Evaluation Committee on search for outstanding employee (Teaching Category)
OBJECTIVES:
- The 2016 Search for the Outstanding Faculty is in line with the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) with the following object
- To encourage creativity, innovativeness, efficiency, and productivity of the CMU faculty members which result to suggestions, inventions, superior accomplishments and other improvement in the operations of the University, or for other extraordinary acts or services in the public interest;
- To promote work performance more than what is expected of the individual target of the faculty members;
- To recognize faculty members with ethical and exemplary behavior towards work and relationship with colleagues in the University including heroic deeds:
- To establish a mechanism for identifying, selecting, and rewarding deserving faculty members of the University;
- To give emphasis on the timeliness of giving recognition, incentives and both monetary and non-monetary awards.
- To acknowledge the awardees in a formal ceremony.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR NOMINATION
A. Outstanding Instructor Award
- Must have the rank of Instructor I-III.
- Must have rendered at least 3 years of continuous service as faculty in the University.
- Must have outstanding faculty performance in the last three years and rated at least ‘better’ in the 2015 In-house PBB Evaluation.
- Must have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the unit or to the university either in instruction, research, extension or production.
- Must have no pending case and/or not been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude at the time of nomination.
B. Outstanding Assistant Professor Award
- Must have the rank of Assistant Professor I-IV.
- Must have rendered at least 5 years of continuous service as faculty in the University.
- Must have outstanding faculty performance in the last three years and rated at least ‘better’ in the 2015 In-house PBB Evaluation.
- Must have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the unit or to the university either in instruction, research, extension or production.
- Must have an approved and conducted research/extension project in the University.
- Must have no pending case and/or not been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude at the time of nomination
C. Outstanding Associate Professor Award
- Must have the rank of Associate Professor I-V.
- Must have rendered at least 8 years of continuous service as faculty in the University.
- Must have outstanding faculty performance in the last three years and rated at least ‘better’ in the 2015 In-house PBB Evaluation.
- Must have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the unit or to the university either in instruction, research, extension or production.
- Must have presented the research/extension output in an international forum or published the research/extension output in a refereed journal.
- Must have no pending case and/or not been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude at the time of nomination.
D. Outstanding Professor Award
- Must have the rank either from Professor I-VI, College or University Professor.
- Must have rendered at least 10 years of continuous service as faculty in the University.
- Must have outstanding faculty performance in the last three years and rated at least ‘better’ in the 2015 In-house PBB Evaluation.
- Must have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the unit or to the university either in instruction, research, extension or production.
- Must have presented the research/extension output in an international forum or published the research/extension output in an international refereed journal.
- Must have established foreign linkages/consultancies/collaborative partnerships with other higher education institutions or agencies related to education.
- Must have no pending case and/or have not been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude at the time of nomination.
CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION
- 30 % Impact of outstanding contribution
- 30% Impact of exemplary behavior
- 20 % Performance Rating
- 20% Years of Service
The screening committee is allowed to design an internal guideline or point system in order to meet the above stated criteria for evaluation.
MECHANICS
- Announcement regarding the 2016 Search for Outstanding faculty will be made through memorandum, radio announcement in the DXMU and posting in CMU website and tarpaulin.
- All colleges will be required to submit their nominees written in the prescribed nomination forms and with attached supporting documents.
- Selection for the nominees per college will be at the discretion of the Deans of the Colleges.
- All colleges may submit one (1) nominee per category.
- All nominees will be evaluated per category through point system.
- The First Level Screening Committee will get the first 5 nominees per category to be recommended to the PRAISE committee.
- The Second Level (final) Screening Committee will do the final evaluation and select the 3 awardees per category with the corresponding ranks.
- Winners will be notified a week before the Awarding Ceremony of the scheduled Awards Night during the 51/106 Unified Foundation Day.
SCREENING COMMITTEE
- First Level Screening Committee – composed of the designated committee members on the Employee Awards of the 51/151 Unified Foundation Day, composed of the Director of Instruction as Chair, CMUFAI President and the University Registrar, as members. They shall perform the first elimination process in order to come up with the Top 5 nominees per category.
- Second Level (Final) Screening Committee – composed of the Praise committee:
Chairperson – President
Co-Chairperson – VPA
Members – FMO, UPDO head, HRMO, CMUFAI President
The PRAISE committee will finally evaluate the recommended nominees of the First Level Screening Committee to select the winners in each category.
